The role currently open at The Wigwam is for a Steward in the kitchen team. This role is pivotal in supporting the culinary and food service departments, often regarded as the "Heart of the House." The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation within the kitchen, ensuring all kitchen areas meet high standards of hygiene and readiness. Essential tasks include maintaining daily sanitation logs, managing waste and recycling through green initiatives, and being vigilant about safety to prevent accidents. The steward also plays a key role in preserving the quality of kitchen utensils by following proper cleaning practices that avoid damage. This position requires a proactive approach to cleaning and organizing, especially during slower business periods, and offers the chance to learn various kitchen tasks and develop culinary team skills. - previous experience in a similar role preferred

- able to operate cleaning equipment including spray bottles, vacuums, mops, brooms, dust pans, scrub pads and dusters
- comfortable lifting, carrying and positioning loads of at least 25 lbs
Job Duties
- interact with team members and create a positive and upbeat work environment
- maintain a daily sanitation log for both dish machine and manual pot wash sink
- ensure the work areas are left ready and communicate any items that are not ready
- lead green initiatives by properly recycling all cardboard using the compactor
- be energy conscious and turn off lights when not in use, keep water faucets turned off and report any leaks to a supervisor
- play a key role in safety by paying close attention to specific high traffic areas to avoid accidents, slips, trips, and falls
- use proper dish and glass racks to ensure proper cleaning and avoid chips, cracks, or breakage of small wares
- proactively clean and sanitize all equipment in slow times to maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary environment
- learn different tasks within the kitchen and develop new skills
- assist in other areas when business levels dictate
- provide a genuine level of engagement with all guests and fellow crew members with a sincere smile
