The Steward / Dishwasher role at HHM Hotels is a vital position responsible for ensuring the efficient and sanitary operation of the kitchen environment. This role entails performing essential dishwashing and kitchen cleaning functions that support smooth kitchen operations and food service delivery. As a Steward / Dishwasher, you will be tasked with washing all types of kitchenware — including dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans — using both manual and mechanical means. You will also operate dishwashing and other kitchen cleaning equipment, ensuring that all kitchen utensils and equipment are properly cleaned, sanitized, and stored. Maintaining cleanliness in kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils is paramount, along with managing proper stocking of supplies such as food, utensils, and other necessities in serving stations and storage areas.

Beyond cleaning duties, the role supports food preparation during busy times or staff shortages, helping to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of kitchen operations. The Steward / Dishwasher must practice safe work habits, adhere to OSHA and MSDS standards, and demonstrate a strong commitment to guest satisfaction by contributing to a well-operated kitchen and dining environment. Job Duties

  • Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots and pans
  • Operate dishwashing and other kitchen cleaning equipment
  • Place clean dishes, utensils, or cooking equipment in storage areas
  • Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, or utensils in clean and orderly condition
  • Stock supplies, such as food or utensils, in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, or salad bars
  • Sweep and wash floors and clean trash cans
  • Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas
  • Perform food preparation functions in the event of staffing shortages or during peak periods
  • Be aware of guest satisfaction scores and work toward increasing departmental and overall guest satisfaction
  • Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards
  • Perform other duties as requested by management
