This opportunity is for the position of Steward/Dishwasher, a critical role within HHM Hotels' culinary operations. The Steward/Dishwasher plays an essential role in maintaining cleanliness and organization within the kitchen, ensuring that dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment are sanitized and stored properly. This position supports the kitchen team by maintaining a sanitary environment, which is vital for food safety and overall guest satisfaction. The role presents a path for career growth leading to positions such as Cook or Stewarding Supervisor and eventually advancing to Executive Steward or Sous Chef.
The Steward/Dishwasher will be responsible for operating dishwashing and kitchen cleaning equipment, stocking supplies, managing waste disposal, and assisting with food preparation during peak periods or staffing shortages. Attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and a proactive mindset towards sustainability practices through HHM’s EarthView program are also essential aspects of the role. Job Duties
- Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots and pans
- Operate dishwashing and other kitchen cleaning equipment
- Place clean dishes, utensils, or cooking equipment in storage areas
- Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, or utensils in clean and orderly condition
- Stock supplies such as food or utensils in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, or salad bars
- Sweep and wash floors and clean trash cans
- Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas
- Perform food preparation functions in the event of staffing shortages or during peak periods
- Be aware of guest satisfaction scores and work toward increasing departmental and overall guest satisfaction
- Follow sustainability guidelines and practices related to HHM’s EarthView program
- Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards
- Perform other duties as requested by management
