Within this esteemed organization, the role of Steward at Alltown Fresh is critical for maintaining the high standards expected in the kitchen environment. The Steward will work closely with the culinary team to ensure that kitchen maintenance and food preparation activities are executed efficiently and safely. This includes preparing fresh ingredients using state-of-the-art equipment, such as washing and chopping vegetables and cutting meat, along with other meal prep tasks. A Steward's attention to detail is vital, as they are responsible for labeling and stocking ingredients accurately while keeping workspaces organized and efficient to support the culinary processes.
In addition to ingredient prep and kitchen organization, the Steward must communicate regular inventory needs to the Chef to prevent shortages and ensure smooth kitchen operations. They will rigorously adhere to safe food handling procedures and company guidelines, including stocking rotation and proper temperature storage of produce and other perishables. Responsibilities extend to maintaining cleanliness at the dish station by washing dishes as needed and performing daily and weekly cleaning assignments to uphold sanitary conditions.
The role also involves some engagement in catering by delivering prepared food when required, adding a customer service aspect to the position. This dynamic role demands flexibility, including availability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the operational rhythms of a busy food service environment.

Job Duties
- Work directly with the culinary team using state of the art equipment to prep fresh ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat and other meal prep
- Label and stock all ingredients on shelves and maintain an organized and efficient workspace
- Communicate inventory and kitchen needs to Chef
- Understand and follow safe food handling procedures
- Follow established guidelines rotating stock items and storing produce at appropriate temperatures
- Take ownership of the dish station making sure area is set up and stocked as well as washing dishes as needed
- Follow and perform both daily and weekly cleaning assignments
- Empty trash as needed daily
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment
- Make catering deliveries as needed
