The current opportunity at Intermountain Health Medical Center is for a dedicated Dishwasher and Housekeeping staff member within the Culinary Department. This role is integral to maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across various areas, including dishwashing, general housekeeping, and support for patient dining. The position entails working evening shifts from 3:30 PM to 9:30 PM with flexible availability on weekdays and weekends, for up to three days per week. The role offers shift differentials for evenings, nights, and weekends, with an hourly wage ranging from $17.43 to $22.29, dependent on experience. Though the position is not benefits eligible, it plays a critical role in supporting hospital operations and patient satisfaction.

The Dishwasher and Housekeeping team member is tasked with a range of essential functions. This involves cleaning and sanitizing dishes using commercial dishwashers and other equipment, collecting patient tray carts from hospital floors, and ensuring that dining and kitchen areas meet stringent cleanliness standards. Employees are required to use cleaning chemicals according to OSHA and Joint Commission guidelines, properly dispose of infectious waste and trash, and operate and maintain equipment safely. The role demands physical stamina, including standing for long periods, manual dexterity, and the ability to lift and transport equipment of varying weights. The employee must be comfortable working in varying temperature conditions and handling cleaning chemicals.

This position requires individuals to demonstrate clear communication skills, the ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and an understanding of safety and sanitation protocols. Certification such as a Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification is required on the first day of work for positions based in Utah and Idaho. Job Requirements

  • Ability to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies
  • Ability to communicate and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment including heavy items
  • Ability to remain standing for long periods of time
  • Ability to tolerate extremes in temperature and exposure to cleaning chemicals

Job Qualifications

  • Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification required by first day of work in Utah and Idaho
  • Demonstrate ability to read color-coded labels and chemicals as well as follow written and verbal directions
  • Demonstrate ability to operate housekeeping equipment and dish machine preferred

Job Duties

  • Clean and sanitize dishes
  • Collect carts with patient trays from hospital floors
  • Clean and disinfect assigned areas including dining areas using department cleaning procedures
  • Use cleaning chemicals properly according to Joint Commission and OSHA standards
  • Understand procedures and properly dispose of infectious waste and trash
  • Operate and maintain assigned equipment such as commercial dishwasher according to established procedures
