About the position: Riverhouse Lodge itself is a prime destination in Central Oregon, offering 221 re-imagined guest rooms featuring modern sophistication combined with world-class amenities. Situated along the riverbank, it provides guests with a tranquil environment surrounded by untouched wilderness and abundant opportunities for outdoor adventure. This unique setting demands a dedicated team to maintain its high standards, especially in the culinary spaces.

We are seeking a full-time Steward to join our kitchen team. This role is essential to the smooth operation of our food and beverage service, acting as the 'Heart of the House' by maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen areas. The Steward will be responsible for ensuring that the kitchen environment meets safety and hygiene standards, contributing directly to the guest experience by supporting culinary and service teams. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a keen eye for detail and a strong work ethic who are ready to grow their careers in hospitality. The Steward will engage with team members positively, help uphold the hotel’s green initiatives, and maintain safety by preventing accidents or hazards in busy kitchen areas. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous experience in a cleaning or kitchen steward role desirable
  • ability to stand and move for long periods
  • good physical condition to lift at least 25 pounds
  • strong attention to detail
  • ability to follow sanitation and safety procedures
  • effective communication skills
  • willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Interact with team members to create a positive and upbeat work environment
  • maintain a daily sanitation log for dish machine and manual pot wash sink
  • ensure work areas are left ready and communicate any items needing attention
  • lead recycling initiatives by properly compacting cardboard
  • practice energy conservation by turning off lights and reporting leaks
  • maintain safety by monitoring high traffic areas to prevent accidents
  • use proper dish and glass racks to avoid damage
  • proactively clean and sanitize equipment during slow times
  • learn and perform various kitchen tasks to develop skills
  • assist other areas during high business levels
  • provide genuine engagement with guests and crew members
