We are currently seeking a diligent and dependable Steward to join our kitchen team. The Steward will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the kitchen and dining areas. This is a full-time position that involves performing a variety of essential duties including washing dishes, cleaning equipment, organizing kitchen supplies, and managing waste disposal. The Steward must be physically capable of handling tasks that require stamina, such as standing for extended periods and lifting weights up to 50 pounds without assistance. This role demands attention to detail and adherence to health and safety standards to ensure an optimal working environment for the entire kitchen staff.

As a Steward, you will operate cleaning machinery like dishwashing machines and trash compactors, sanitize kitchen utensils and surfaces, and manage the storage of clean wares. You will also be responsible for sorting and caring for silverware, handling recyclables, and supporting other kitchen operations as needed. This role requires cooperation with the Executive Steward, Executive Chef, and kitchen team to ensure smooth daily operations. You will contribute directly to the quality assurance of kitchen hygiene and safety protocols while upholding company policies and emergency procedures.

In addition to your daily duties, you will be expected to assist with various tasks assigned to you by supervisory team members and respond proactively to unforeseen situations such as theft reports or emergency evacuations. Reliability in attendance, adherence to uniform standards, and confidentiality regarding company operations are essential components of this role. Working in the hospitality sector means being flexible with schedules to accommodate the fluctuating business needs. Job Qualifications

  • Ability to operate kitchen cleaning machinery
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labor
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Basic understanding of hospitality industry standards

Job Duties

  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment including dishwashing machines and trash compactors
  • Wash and disinfect kitchen areas, tools, and equipment
  • Store clean wares in appropriate locations
  • Use detergents and sanitizing chemicals to clean dishes
  • Inspect and restack cleaned items, re-wash when necessary
  • Sort and clean silverware
  • Maintain trashcans and dumpster areas
  • Clean and mop kitchen departments
  • Dispose of glass and recyclables properly
  • Develop positive working relationships
  • Comply with quality assurance and safety standards
  • Follow company policies and report incidents
  • Assist with tasks assigned by Executive Steward or Executive Chef
  • Notify security of theft reports
  • Assist other kitchen areas as needed
