The Stewarding Attendant plays a crucial role as the backbone of the culinary team, responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout all culinary departments. This position ensures that guests enjoy safe, hygienic, and seamless dining experiences by managing key duties that include cleaning kitchen surfaces, washing cookware, managing kitchen waste, restocking service areas, and assisting with food production when required. Working in this fast-paced environment demands attentiveness to safety, cleanliness, and efficiency, making the Stewarding Attendant vital to the overall operation of food service in the acclaimed Swissotel Chicago. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a housekeeping, stewarding or culinary environment preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays and evenings
  • Physical stamina to stand and move for extended periods
  • Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of food safety standards
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Responsible for the cleanliness and sanitizing of all surfaces for all culinary departments
  • Keeping floors and work areas clear of hazards and obstruction
  • Responsible of the operation of kitchen cleaning equipment
  • Assists in food production and service when directed
  • Washes and cleans pots, pans, and other food service items
  • Restock shelves, counters, and storage areas with food service equipment
  • Removes trash and garbage as directed
  • Sweeps and mops floors in kitchen and servicing areas
  • To consistently offer professional, friendly and proactive guest service while supporting fellow colleagues
  • Any other tasks that may be assigned
