Currently, The Ritz-Carlton in Portland is seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to join their Food and Beverage & Culinary team as a full-time, non-management Dishwasher. This role is essential in maintaining the cleanliness and safety standards required to support the hotel's luxury service atmosphere. The position involves operating and maintaining cleaning equipment and tools, including dishwashers, hand wash stations, pot scrubbing stations, and trash compactors. Additionally, the dishwasher is responsible for thoroughly washing and sanitizing kitchen and storage areas, tables, utensils, knives, and equipment to ensure a hygienic environment that meets the high standards expected by The Ritz-Carlton brand.

This role also entails receiving deliveries, properly storing perishable goods, rotating stock to ensure freshness, and ensuring all clean dishes are stored appropriately in designated areas. Candidates will be expected to use chemical detergents, disinfectants, and rinse agents in a three-compartment sink system for washing dishes. They will inspect, stack, and return dishes if necessary for additional cleaning, and apply hot water sprays to loosen and remove food residue effectively. The role requires meticulous sorting, soaking, and washing/re-washing of cutlery and sorting dirty containers. Additionally, emptying trash and maintaining the waste deposit area, cleaning and mopping assigned departmental areas, disposing of glass in appropriate containers, and ensuring recyclable materials are properly broken down and recycled are part of the job duties.

The successful candidate must adhere strictly to company safety policies and procedures, report any accidents, injuries, or hazardous working conditions, and complete all required safety training and certifications. Protecting company property and communicating clearly and professionally with colleagues is vital, as is fostering a positive working atmosphere to achieve common team goals. Physical requirements include lifting, moving, carrying, pushing, dragging, and placing items weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted, as well as standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods, and performing repetitive movements such as reaching overhead, bending, twisting, and stooping.
