Job Description

Our company is a well-established hospitality organization known for its commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety in all its operations. We specialize in food service and hospitality management, operating facilities that prioritize health department regulations and quality control to ensure an excellent guest experience. As a company, we take pride in our professional environment, which respects both staff and customers, creating a workplace where team members can grow, develop skills, and build rewarding careers while contributing to a safe and inviting atmosphere.

The role we are currently seeking to fill is that of an On-Call Steward. This position is vital to maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our kitchen and work areas. The On-Call Steward is primarily responsible for thorough cleaning tasks that include washing dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans, utilizing dishwashers effectively either by hand or machine. The role also involves placing clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in designated storage areas to ensure kitchen efficiency and readiness for smooth service operations.

In addition to cleaning duties, the On-Call Steward maintains kitchen workstations, equipment, and utensils in an orderly and sanitary condition to comply with all health department regulations. Their responsibilities also include stocking supplies in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and salad bars to ensure that the kitchen is always well-equipped for food preparation and service. Responsibilities extend to sweeping and scrubbing floors to prevent hazards and keep the kitchen environment spotless. The position also entails cleaning garbage cans with water or steam and sorting and removing trash to designated pick-up areas, which is essential for maintaining hygiene standards.

The On-Call Steward may be required to transfer supplies and equipment manually or by using hand trucks, a critical task that supports the operation by ensuring that kitchen and storage areas are adequately stocked and organized. Moreover, all duties must be performed with strict adherence to safety rules and health regulations, and the steward is expected to encourage others to follow safety standards as well. This ensures a safe work environment for all employees.

This role requires a minimum of one year of experience in a high-volume steward position, equipping the candidate with the necessary skills to manage a fast-paced environment while upholding high standards of cleanliness and safety. The position is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, reliable, and passionate about maintaining hygienic conditions in a professional kitchen setting.

Working as an On-Call Steward provides an excellent opportunity to be part of a supportive team that values dedication and hard work. While this is an on-call position, employees may become eligible for a range of benefits depending on their employment status and hours worked. Full-time team members are especially supported with comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage paid by the company, along with generous paid time off and holiday pay. Additionally, employees benefit from a fully funded pension plan that encourages long-term financial security and planning. This combination of benefits and work environment makes the company a desirable place to start or advance a career in the hospitality industry.
