The role of Steward at Sodexo is pivotal in supporting the food service operations by ensuring the back-of-house environments remain clean, safe, and organized. This position plays an integral part in upholding the quality of service in various settings including restaurants, banquets, concessions, premium services, and catering operations. By maintaining sanitation standards, managing warewashing tasks, caring for kitchen equipment, and supporting overall cleanliness, the Steward ensures that food service areas are ready and safe for daily operations and special events. The role demands flexibility in working varying shifts and days, with open availability preferred to meet the operational needs effectively.
In their day-to-day responsibilities, Stewards follow strict sanitation protocols while assisting with the organization and storage of supplies, equipment, and service ware. They handle waste management tasks such as recycling and grease removal in compliance with established procedures to contribute to sustainability efforts and operational efficiency. Additionally, maintaining floors, drains, and work surfaces to meet cleanliness and safety standards is crucial to this position. The physical aspects of the role include frequent lifting and moving of items weighing up to 35 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 40 pounds, underscoring the importance of physical stamina and adherence to safety practices.
Working under the supervision of a Steward Supervisor or culinary leadership, this role may also involve varied duties depending on the size of the unit, service model, and specific operational needs. Given the setting at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, the Steward position not only contributes to the seamless operation of food services but also supports the overall guest experience in a prestigious environment.

- Previous experience in stewarding, sanitation, or food service support roles preferred

- Support opening and closing sanitation procedures for food service areas
- Assist with organization and proper storage of equipment, supplies, and service ware

- Ability to frequently lift and move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 40 pounds
- Attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
