The position available is for a Steward, an essential role within the back-of-house operations team. The Steward is responsible for the setup and breakdown of the dishwashing area including the dish machine, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of all dishes, pots, pans, and service equipment in accordance with health and safety regulations. This position plays a crucial role in supporting both kitchen and dining staff, assisting servers during busy times, and helping with waste disposal. The role also involves maintaining general cleanliness throughout the back of house, including various facility areas such as tables, shelves, floors, coolers, and loading docks.

In addition to routine duties, the Steward supports special events by assisting in setup and breakdown tasks and helps in managing food storage upon delivery to ensure proper handling and organization of supplies. This role demands strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other team members to maintain an efficient and hygienic environment.

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Properly set up and break down the dish machine and dish landing area
  • perform the de-liming of the dish machine following proper procedures
  • ensure all dishes, pots, pans, and small wares are cleaned and sanitized efficiently and in accordance with health regulations
  • maintain the general cleanliness of the entire back of the house, including cleaning tables, shelves, walls, floors, cooler areas, and loading dock areas
  • follow sanitary procedures for the disposal of food and waste, ensuring a clean and safe work environment
  • assist in the setup and breakdown of special events
  • help with food storage upon receiving deliveries and ensure proper handling and organization of supplies
  • assist servers during lunch service by bussing tables and ensuring dishes are removed promptly
  • remove trash throughout the day and ensure timely disposal of waste
  • follow all dietary and sanitary procedures in accordance with facility policies and state/federal laws
  • follow infection control guidelines and maintain privacy rules and regulations as per HIPAA
  • attend all meetings and complete in-services and mandatory training
  • provide exceptional customer service and high-quality care by showing compassion and empathy towards residents and their families
  • perform other duties as assigned
