This particular role centers on maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation within the hotel’s food and storage areas, ensuring both guest satisfaction and compliance with health and safety guidelines. The position involves operating and maintaining essential cleaning equipment such as dishwashing machines, hand wash stations, and trash compactors. Responsibilities also include thorough cleaning and disinfecting of kitchen and storeroom surfaces, tools, knives, and all related equipment to guarantee a safe and hygienic environment.

In addition to cleaning, the role requires careful stock management tasks, including receiving deliveries, proper storage of perishables, and stock rotation to minimize waste and maintain freshness. The successful candidate will be proficient in using detergent, rinsing, and sanitizing chemicals in a three-compartment sink system, as well as inspecting and sorting cleaned items to ensure they meet the company’s quality standards. The duties extend to maintaining waste disposal and recycling procedures with attention to environmental guidelines.

This is a physically engaging position requiring the ability to lift and handle objects up to 50 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods. The employee must be capable of reaching, bending, twisting, and performing other motions necessary to maintain cleanliness and order in a busy hotel environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential, as is adherence to Marriott’s comprehensive safety, security, and quality standards.

Job Requirements

  • No high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • No related work experience
  • No supervisory experience
  • Ability to move lift carry push pull and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Ability to stand sit or walk for extended periods
  • Ability to reach overhead and below the knees including bending twisting pulling and stooping
  • Willingness to perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors

Job Duties

  • Use detergent rinsing and sanitizing chemicals in the 3-compartment sink to clean dishes
  • Inspect pull and stack cleaned items send soiled items back for re-scrubbing and re-washing
  • Empty and maintain trashcans and dumpster area
  • Clean and mop all areas in assigned departments
