The position at hand is a vital role within the Westin team, focused on maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards essential to both guest satisfaction and operational efficiency. As a member of the housekeeping or kitchen cleaning team, this role involves operating and maintaining cleaning equipment such as dishwashing machines, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors. The candidate will be responsible for washing and disinfecting kitchen and storeroom areas, cleaning tables, tools, knives, and equipment. Proper handling and storage of perishables, rotation of stock, and ensuring that clean wares are stored appropriately are critical to the role.

Additional responsibilities include using detergents and sanitizing chemicals in a three-compartment sink to clean dishes, inspecting and stacking cleaned items, and sending soiled items back for re-washing when necessary. The role involves the rack and spray of cleaned items with hot water to remove food residues as well as sorting, soaking, and washing silverware. Managing waste and recycling by emptying trash cans, maintaining dumpster areas, disposing of glass properly, and breaking down cardboard boxes for recycling are also part of the duties. Maintaining cleanliness by mopping and cleaning assigned departments helps ensure a safe and sanitary environment.

Safety and security are paramount; hence, the candidate must follow all company safety policies, report maintenance issues, injuries, and unsafe conditions promptly, and complete required safety training and certifications. The role demands physical endurance, the ability to move and lift objects up to 50 pounds unassisted, and standing or walking for extended periods involving bending, twisting, and stooping.
