The role being offered is a full-time, non-management Food and Beverage team member position located at JW Marriott Chicago. This position plays an integral part in maintaining the seamless operation of the hotel's culinary environment by ensuring cleanliness, sanitation, and organization in kitchens and storage areas. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining various cleaning equipment such as dishwashing machines, hand wash stations, and trash compactors, as well as thorough cleaning and sanitizing of kitchen tools, utensils, and food prep surfaces.

The individual in this role will be responsible for receiving deliveries, proper storage of perishables, inventory rotation, and ensuring all clean wares are correctly stored. Tasks will also involve rigorous dishwashing processes using detergent and sanitizing chemicals, inspecting and sorting cleaned items, and managing waste and recycling in accordance with safety and environmental standards. The position demands adherence to Marriott's comprehensive safety and security policies, proactive reporting of maintenance needs or unsafe conditions, and active participation in safety training and certifications.

Physically, the role requires the ability to move and handle objects weighing up to 50 pounds independently, standing or walking for extended periods, and performing various physical movements such as bending, twisting, and stooping. The team member will be expected to communicate clearly and professionally, support team goals, and perform additional reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.

Job Duties

  • wash and disinfect kitchen and store room areas tables tools knives and equipment
  • receive deliveries store perishables properly and rotate stock
  • ensure clean wares are stored in appropriate areas
  • use detergent rinsing and sanitizing chemicals in the 3-compartment sink to clean dishes
  • inspect pull and stack cleaned items send soiled items back for re-scrubbing and re-washing
  • rack and spray all racked items with hot water to loosen and remove food residue
