Job Description

Watermark Baton Rouge Hotel is a distinguished establishment located in the heart of downtown Baton Rouge, Louisiana. As a proud member of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, this hotel offers a unique blend of historic charm and modern luxury. The iconic building, originally built in 1927 as Baton Rouge’s first skyscraper, served as the headquarters for the Louisiana Trust & Savings Bank for more than 50 years. Renowned for its architectural significance, the hotel features an eclectic mix of Art Deco and Greek Revival design elements, beautifully preserved murals by celebrated New Orleans artist Angela Gregory, and stunning interiors that reflect the elegance and history of Baton Rouge. Towering above the city and overlooking the Mississippi River, Watermark Baton Rouge Hotel provides guests with a setting that is both grand and inviting, making it a landmark destination for travelers and locals alike.

The role of Steward at Watermark Baton Rouge Hotel is a full-time position reporting directly to the Food and Beverage Manager. This role is vital to maintaining the cleanliness and operational efficiency of the hotel’s dining and food preparation areas. The Steward is mainly responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and drying all dishes, glassware, silverware, and related equipment that are returned to the dish hall station. It also includes ensuring that all dining tables remain clean and presentable, featuring spotless china, glassware, silverware, and linens at all times. This position requires an individual capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects up to 100 pounds, standing for extended periods, and performing various cleaning duties that contribute to the overall guest experience.

Stewards at Watermark Baton Rouge are expected to maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing proper uniforms and name tags. They operate dishwashing machines, organize and prepare items for cleaning, and manage the restocking of cleaned items to their appropriate locations. Additional responsibilities may involve detailed cleaning tasks such as scrubbing trash cans, cleaning vents, removing gum from tables, cleaning ice bins, replacing light bulbs, setting up sanitizers, and other duties to maintain cleanliness throughout the hotel’s food service areas. This position not only supports the efficiency of the food and beverage team but also plays a crucial role in fostering a friendly, service-oriented atmosphere for both guests and employees. Watermark Baton Rouge offers competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, disability coverage, paid holidays and vacation time, and a 401(k) retirement savings plan, making it an attractive employment opportunity for dedicated individuals seeking to grow their careers in the hospitality industry.
