The role of Food and Beverage Dishwasher at JW Marriott Minneapolis Mall of America is a vital non-management, part-time position within the culinary team. The Food and Beverage Dishwasher is responsible for operating and maintaining cleaning equipment including dishwashing machines, hand wash and pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors. The role involves washing, disinfecting, and organizing kitchen tools, knives, and other equipment efficiently to ensure a clean and sanitary food service environment. The dishwasher will receive and properly store perishables, rotate stock to maintain freshness, and ensure that clean wares are placed in appropriate storage areas.

This position requires adherence to strict safety and hygiene standards, including using detergents, rinsing, and sanitizing chemicals correctly within a three-compartment sink setup. The dishwasher must inspect and handle ware efficiently, ensuring any soiled items are rewashed and all items are rinsed with hot water to remove residue. Silverware washing, breaking down and sorting dirty bus tubs, maintaining trash and recycling areas, and cleaning floors and surfaces are also key responsibilities. The dishwasher should be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds, stand, sit, or walk for long periods, and reach or bend as necessary.

Job Duties

  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment including dish washing machine and pot-scrubbing station
  • wash and disinfect kitchen, store room areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment
  • receive deliveries, store perishables properly, and rotate stock
  • ensure clean wares are stored in appropriate areas
  • use detergent, rinsing, and sanitizing chemicals in the 3-compartment sink to clean dishes
  • inspect, pull, and stack cleaned items
  • send soiled items back for re-scrubbing and re-washing
  • rack and spray all racked items with hot water to loosen and remove food residue
  • sort, soak, and wash/re-wash silverware
  • breakdown dirty bus tubs
  • empty and maintain trashcans and dumpster area
  • clean and mop all areas in assigned departments
  • dispose of glass in proper containers
  • break down cardboard boxes and place them and other recyclables in recycle bin
  • follow all company safety and security policies and procedures
  • report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager
  • complete safety training and certifications
  • protect company assets
  • speak with others using clear and professional language
  • develop and maintain positive working relationships
  • support team to reach common goals
  • ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards
  • move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance
