The role of Dishwasher at JW Marriott Essex House New York is a critical position within the Food and Beverage and Culinary departments. This full-time, non-management role offers an hourly pay range of $30.24 to $40.32 and requires dedication to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation in kitchen and storage areas. The Dishwasher will be responsible for operating and maintaining various cleaning equipment such as dishwashing machines, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors. Essential duties include washing and disinfecting kitchenware, utensils, knives, and tables, as well as properly handling deliveries and storing perishables to maintain food safety standards. This position requires physical stamina since it involves moving objects up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for extended periods, and performing repetitive tasks such as bending, twisting, and stooping.

Job Duties

  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment including dish washing machines and trash compactors
  • wash and disinfect kitchen and store room areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment
  • receive deliveries, store perishables properly, and rotate stock
  • ensure clean wares are stored appropriately
  • use detergent, rinsing, and sanitizing chemicals in the 3-compartment sink to clean dishes
  • inspect, pull, and stack cleaned items, sending soiled items back for re-cleaning
  • clean and mop all assigned department areas
  • dispose of glass properly and breakdown cardboard boxes for recycling
  • report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions
  • follow safety and security policies and complete safety training
  • develop and maintain positive working relationships with team members
  • perform physical tasks including moving, lifting, carrying objects up to 50 pounds and standing or walking for extended periods
  • perform other reasonable job duties as assigned by supervisors
