The Steward position at Sonesta International Hotels plays a crucial role in supporting the culinary team and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation within the food and beverage department. This full-time role requires a dedicated individual who takes pride in ensuring that pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment are sanitized and stored appropriately to meet rigorous time, product, and placement standards. The Steward's responsibilities extend beyond dishwashing to include maintaining kitchen cleanliness, storage areas, dumpsters, and back dock areas, always adhering to established safety and sanitation protocols. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a passion for hospitality and a commitment to exceptional service. This position thrives in a fast-paced environment and demands physical stamina, including the ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods, sometimes working shifts of ten to twelve hours on weekends, holidays, and varying times of day and night.

Job Requirements
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to tolerate extreme temperatures such as freezers and loading dock
- Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push or pull objects
- Must be able to push and pull equipment weighing up to 250 pounds
- Frequent bending, kneeling and reaching required
- Ability to stand during entire shift
- Flexibility to work variable days of the week including weekends and holidays
- Flexibility to work variable shifts including days, nights, overnights
- Availability for ten to twelve hour shifts sometimes required
Job Qualifications
- Previous experience as a kitchen worker preferred
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
Job Duties
- Operate dish machine, clean and sanitize pots and pans, china, glassware, flatware, kitchen equipment and other utensils
- Store all clean pots and pans, china, glassware, flatware, kitchen equipment and other utensils to its proper storage location using care to minimize breakage
- Clean and sanitize the kitchen and food preparation areas
- Sweep and mop all kitchen floors and other assigned areas
- Collect and properly dispose of trash
- Service food for the Employee Cafeteria as specified by the Chef or Kitchen Supervisor
- Adhere to established safety and sanitation guidelines
