The role at Westin BWI is for a Stewarding Team Member who will support the Stewarding Supervisor and collaborate with various Restaurant Outlets to maintain cleanliness and organization in food and beverage service areas. The position is hourly, offering a wage of $15.00 per hour. It is a physically demanding role that requires stamina and strength due to the high activity levels involved.

The primary objective of this role is to ensure that all dishware and service ware are promptly and effectively cleaned, sorted, and replaced to support seamless restaurant operations. This includes handling dishwashing machinery, burnishing silverware for optimal presentation, and maintaining cleanliness in kitchen tools such as kettles, pots, pans, and tilt skillets. The Stewarding Team Member must be vigilant in adhering to attendance policies and ready to perform additional related duties as assigned.

Efficiency, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and service are essential qualities for success in this position. The ability to lift and move heavy objects safely and comfortably, communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other stakeholders, and adapt communication styles in various situations is also critical.

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of service ware and how to maintain same to complement guest experience
  • Ability to push or pull service carts weighing up to 150 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to transport heavy objects through a crowded room with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry or move goods on a hand cart or truck weighing a maximum of 200 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences such as supervisors, coworkers, and the public

Job Duties

  • Promptly and carefully sort soiled ware so that it can be put through the dish or pot machine properly
  • Quickly wash all ware and replace in storage areas as designated
  • Maintain physical strength and stamina to meet high activity levels
  • Keep dish machine properly cleaned and filled with water per hotel standards
  • Operate burnishing machine to ensure proper finish on silverware
  • De-tarnish and polish silver for proper appearance
  • Clean kettles, tilt skillets, pots and pans promptly and completely
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned
