Job Description

Mayo Clinic is a globally recognized academic medical center, consistently ranked among the top healthcare providers in multiple specialties by U.S. News & World Report. Renowned for its patient-first approach, Mayo Clinic operates at several major campuses including Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona; Jacksonville, Florida; and Rochester, Minnesota, as well as numerous Health System campuses across the Midwest and international locations. The organization is deeply committed to both outstanding patient care and the well-being of its employees, offering competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for ongoing professional development. This combination enables employees to build long-lasting, rewarding careers within a supportive and innovative environment.

The Sterile Processing Technician role at Mayo Clinic is a critical position supporting surgical and clinical teams by ensuring that instruments and equipment used in procedures are meticulously cleaned, sterilized, and prepared. Although this role does not involve direct patient contact, the technician’s work is integral to safe and effective patient care, directly impacting surgical outcomes by providing expertly maintained tools for operating room personnel.

This stable, full-time position welcomes candidates starting their healthcare journey, as no prior healthcare experience is necessary. Mayo Clinic provides comprehensive, paid on-the-job training alongside mentorship from experienced staff to cultivate your skills and prepare you for certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST), which is required to be completed within 18 months of hire. The organization supports this certification process by covering exam costs and offering a pay increase upon certification.

In this role, you will operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves and instrument washers, inspect surgical instruments for quality and completeness, assemble instrument sets for upcoming procedures, and maintain accurate inventory records using advanced computer tracking systems. You will also organize storage areas and ensure timely delivery of sterile supplies to surgical teams, contributing to Mayo Clinic's commitment to operational excellence and patient safety.

Mayo Clinic provides flexible scheduling options, including part-time and full-time shifts, night, weekend, and holiday rotations to support work-life balance. The hourly wage range for this position is $21.96 to $29.02 based on a union contract, with full benefits including multiple medical plan options, dental and vision coverage, pre-tax savings accounts, and competitive retirement plans. A relocation package is also available, reflecting Mayo Clinic’s investment in finding the right candidates from diverse locations.

Joining Mayo Clinic as a Sterile Processing Technician means becoming part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to innovation and compassionate care. You will advance your career in a respected institution with a rich history of medical excellence and a clear commitment to employee success. The hiring process includes a virtual pre-recorded interview, allowing you to present your qualifications in a flexible and supportive manner. Mayo Clinic values diversity and provides equal employment opportunities to all qualified applicants, regardless of background.
