Job Description

Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare (TMH) is a private, nonprofit community-based healthcare system serving a 22-county region in North Florida and South Georgia. Established as a pillar of health services in the region, TMH operates as a comprehensive healthcare provider with a wide network that includes a 772-bed acute care hospital, multiple specialty care centers, a psychiatric hospital, six residency programs, and over 50 affiliated physician practices. As the region's healthcare leader, TMH is dedicated to delivering advanced medical care with a strong emphasis on innovation, patient safety, and community wellness. The hospital is renowned for providing specialized medical services such as a Level II Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatric Intensive Care, and some of the most advanced programs in cancer, heart and vascular care, orthopedics, and surgery in the Panhandle area. TMH is also a significant employer with over 6,000 colleagues who reflect the diverse population they serve, fostering an inclusive environment that promotes career growth and professional development.

The role offered at TMH is that of a Sterile Processing Educator, a critical and dynamic position designed for individuals with expertise in sterile processing, operating rooms, or related settings. This role is integral in maintaining the high standards of sterilization and decontamination necessary for patient safety and effective healthcare delivery. The Sterile Processing Educator is responsible for instructing staff on proper procedures related to the cleaning, assembly, sterilization, and high-level disinfection of reusable medical instruments throughout the healthcare facility and associated satellite areas. This position demands excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills to effectively develop, implement, and monitor departmental policies and procedures that align with the hospital’s organizational goals and regulatory compliance standards. The educator helps ensure staff competency through comprehensive audits, mentoring, and ongoing education, thereby enhancing the overall quality and safety of sterile processing operations. Reporting directly to the Manager of Sterile Supply, this role does not involve direct supervision responsibilities but plays a vital part in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence within the sterile processing team. Candidates for this role will have at least two years of relevant experience and hold necessary certifications such as CBSPD Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) or IAHCSMM Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST). Preferred qualifications include supervisory or educator experience, familiarity with instrument tracking systems, and additional certifications in surgical instrument or endoscope reprocessing. TMH offers a career destination where professionals dedicated to advancing healthcare can thrive and contribute to a healthier community.
