Job Requirements
- High school diploma
- minimum two years of relevant experience in sterile processing or operating room settings
- certification as CBSPD Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) or IAHCSMM Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
- strong communication skills
- analytical and organizational abilities
- knowledge of sterilization and decontamination processes
- ability to develop and implement departmental policies
- skills in mentoring and staff education
- adherence to organizational and regulatory standards
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate
- two years of experience in sterile processing, operating rooms, or similar setting
- knowledge of decontamination, sterilization sciences, case cart systems, and medical/surgical supplies and equipment
- CBSPD Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) or IAHCSMM Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
- preferred bachelor's degree
- preferred educator or supervisory experience in a high volume hospital
- preferred knowledge of instrument tracking system
- preferred CBSPD Certified Surgical Instrument Specialist (CSIS) or IAHCSMM Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS)
- preferred CBSPD Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) or IAHCSMM Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER)
Job Duties
- Communicating effectively with staff and management
- instructing staff on proper decontamination, cleaning, assembly, sterilization, and high-level disinfection of reusable instrumentation
- creating and demonstrating knowledge of department policies and procedures regarding sterilization and high-level disinfection
- developing, implementing, and monitoring departmental policies and procedures to support organizational goals and ensuring compliance through audits and reporting
- collaborating with department managers and supervisors to assure staff competency and compliance
- mentoring staff to enhance awareness of sterile processing standards and regulatory compliance
- monitoring and assisting staff with continuing education units and quality feedback
