The role of the Hostess is integral to the smooth functioning of our restaurant. The primary function of the Hostess is to guarantee the smooth operation of the restaurant and ensure that our guests receive superb service from the moment they arrive to when they are seated. The Hostess controls the flow of guests into the restaurant and seats them appropriately, ensuring that the seating arrangements are organized and efficient. Dressed in professional attire or uniform as required, the Hostess sets the tone for the guest experience with a warm, friendly, and courteous greeting.

The Hostess is responsible for coordinating with the supervisor regarding section assignments upon arrival and managing the reservation book, especially for VIP guests, while keeping track of phone messages for new reservations. Preparing a sheet detailing the night's reservations, noting any special requests such as a preferred server, birthday celebrations, or anniversaries, is part of this vital administrative task. Additionally, the Hostess maintains records of the seating arrangements, including the number of people in each party, their names, and the times they are seated.

Effective communication with supervisors is essential when large parties require specific arrangements, ensuring that all preparations are in place to accommodate special needs. The Hostess also handles administrative tasks such as procuring necessary comps and verifying amounts, contributing to the operational accuracy and customer satisfaction.

When time permits, the Hostess ensures to monitor the dining room, looking for issues that may need attention from the servers to maintain a smooth dining flow and uphold the restaurant's service standards. Job Requirements

  • Previous customer service experience preferred

Job Duties
