Job Description

ABM is a leading global provider of facility services and solutions, dedicated to creating cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environments across a wide array of industries. Founded in 1909, ABM employs over 100,000 professionals across more than 350 offices worldwide, serving over 20,000 clients spanning commercial office buildings, universities, airports, hospitals, data centers, manufacturing plants, distribution centers, entertainment venues, and more. With annual revenues approaching $8 billion, ABM is renowned for its comprehensive service offerings, including janitorial, engineering, parking, electrical and lighting, energy and electric vehicle charging infrastructure, HVAC and mechanical, landscape and turf management, and mission critical solutions. ABM’s commitment to quality, safety, and innovation solidifies its position as a trusted partner in facility management.

The role of the Stationary Engineer (also referred to as Operations Engineer) at ABM is a critical position focused on maintaining and repairing a broad range of mechanical and HVAC equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation of facilities. This full-time position operates on a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with pay commensurate with experience and licensing. ABM places a strong emphasis on supporting professional growth by offering licensing opportunities for experienced boiler, chiller, and cooling tower technicians.

As a Stationary Engineer, you will be responsible for performing scheduled maintenance, safety inspections, and repairs on various equipment types, including heating and ventilating systems, engines, motors, combustion engines, pumps, air compressors, air conditioning units, fans, and siphons. The role demands strict adherence to safety standards and company policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements throughout operations.

Key responsibilities include lubrication of moving parts, overhauling or replacing defective valves, gaskets, or bearings, and routine maintenance to prevent inefficiencies caused by soot or corrosion buildup. You will diagnose and repair electrical, HVAC, and plumbing equipment, read operational gauges and meters, and monitor boiler water, chemical, and fuel levels. The role also requires operation and adjustment of valves to regulate water, air, and fuel input into boilers, ensuring optimal performance and safety.

In addition to mechanical tasks, the Stationary Engineer will perform chemical analyses on cooling and boiler water, making necessary adjustments to chemical feeds to maintain appropriate levels of disinfection and corrosion prevention. The operator must be flexible and willing to undertake all assigned duties, demonstrating a proactive attitude to problem-solving and equipment maintenance.

The position requires familiarity with industry practices for HVAC, boilers, chillers, and cooling towers, knowledge of building codes and regulations, and a solid understanding of health and safety protocols. Competency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office applications is preferred, enhancing the ability to maintain detailed records and logs for operations, maintenance, and safety activities.

At ABM, inclusivity is paramount. The company is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities. ABM actively participates in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security E-Verify program, reinforcing its dedication to legal employment practices. Military veterans will find a welcoming environment at ABM, with specialized training programs and career advancement opportunities designed to leverage their unique skills and experience.

Joining ABM as a Stationary Engineer means becoming part of an industry-leading team that values technical expertise, safety consciousness, and continuous learning. This role offers an excellent opportunity for skilled technicians seeking stability, growth, and the chance to contribute to maintaining vital infrastructure at a global scale. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply directly on ABM’s website, where they can access detailed information about benefits and the application process. ABM does not accept unsolicited resumes to ensure all applicants receive proper consideration.
