The Station Cook role at Hyatt Regency San Francisco is an integral part of the Culinary team, responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality dishes for assigned stations in accordance with strict hotel recipes, production standards, sanitation protocols, and service benchmarks. The Station Cook plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth culinary operations by maintaining readiness of their station, executing menu items consistently, and supporting various service periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, banquets, and special events. Job Requirements
- Previous professional cooking experience required
- Food handler certification required or must be obtained in accordance with local requirements
- Ability to work assigned stations with limited supervision
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, push, pull, and carry items as needed in a kitchen environment
Job Qualifications
- Previous professional cooking experience required
- Hotel, restaurant, banquet, or high-volume kitchen experience preferred
- Ability to work assigned stations with limited supervision
- Knowledge of basic culinary techniques, knife skills, food preparation, station setup, and cooking methods
- Ability to follow recipes, prep lists, production standards, and verbal instructions
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, proper food storage, and temperature-control procedures
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent food quality and presentation
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, push, pull, and carry items as needed in a kitchen environment
- Food handler certification required or must be obtained in accordance with local requirements
Job Duties
- Prepare, cook, and plate food items for assigned stations according to hotel recipes, quality standards, portion guidelines, and presentation expectations
- Set up, maintain, and break down assigned stations for restaurant, banquet, employee dining, or other hotel food and beverage operations
- Complete daily prep lists, production sheets, and station setup in a timely and accurate manner
- Ensure mise en place is complete and station inventory is properly stocked for service
- Follow proper food handling, storage, labeling, rotation, and temperature-control procedures
- Support breakfast, lunch, dinner, banquet, and special event production as business needs require
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, equipment, refrigeration, storage areas, and production stations
- Communicate product needs, quality concerns, equipment issues, and guest dietary needs to culinary leadership
- Prepare food for guests with allergies, dietary restrictions, or special requests while following hotel procedures
- Minimize waste through proper production, portioning, storage, and reuse standards
- Assist culinary colleagues during peak periods and support smooth kitchen flow
- Follow all health department, food safety, sanitation, and hotel safety standards
- Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and Hyatt’s culture of care in all colleague and guest interactions
