We are currently seeking motivated and customer-focused individuals to join our team in the role of Customer Service Associate at our coffee shop department. This position is key to the successful delivery of our customer experience, combining product knowledge, interpersonal skills, and operational expertise. As a Customer Service Associate, you will be responsible for creating an inviting atmosphere where customers feel welcome, valued, and appreciated. You will assist customers by answering questions about products, making personalized recommendations, and offering samples to help discover new favorites.

Your role will include expertly preparing beverage selections to specific recipes and standards, handling transactions using best practices, and maintaining the freshness and correct portion sizes of products served. Collaboration with fellow associates is essential to promote teamwork and achieve overall store goals. As part of your daily duties, you will operate and maintain coffee shop equipment, including refrigerators, slicers, ovens, espresso machines, blenders, computerized scales, and steamers, while adhering to company guidelines and safety standards.

Attention to detail is vital as you will be tasked with properly stocking, labeling, and inventorying merchandise, checking product quality, reviewing sell-by dates, and reporting any ordering or shipping discrepancies to management. You will play an active role in reinforcing safety protocols by identifying unsafe conditions, following food safety guidelines, reporting accidents or safety risks, and performing preventive maintenance or notifying appropriate managers when repairs are needed.

This role requires an ability to work effectively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment, with strong conflict management skills applied in a cooperative and nonconfrontational manner. Integrity is paramount, particularly regarding the handling of customer and business information. You will be expected to follow directions carefully, seek assistance when needed, and provide support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as part of your service commitment.

Job Duties

  • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products
  • Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company/store goals
  • Prepare beverage selections to recipe and standards and to customer’s requests using proper equipment
  • Tender transactions using company best practices
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products for which they inquire about
  • Inform customers of coffee shop specials
  • Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and the correct portion size (or as close as possible to the amount ordered) to prevent shrink
  • Recommend coffee shop items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need
  • Use all equipment in coffee shop such as the refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines
  • Prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness
  • Review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action
  • Properly use kitchen equipment, espresso machine, blender, computerized scale and steamer
  • Label, stock and inventory department merchandise
  • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents
  • Report all safety risks, issues or illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud to store management
  • Ability to work cooperatively in high paced and sometimes stressful environment
