Job Duties

  • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and store
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of products within the department and respond to customer questions and product suggestions
  • Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company and store goals
  • Prepare beverage selections to recipe and standards and tender transactions using company best practices
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items and inform them of coffee shop specials
  • Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
  • Recommend coffee shop items to meet customer needs
  • Use coffee shop equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens following company guidelines
  • Prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell-by dates
  • Properly use kitchen equipment including espresso machine, blender, computerized scale, and steamer
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise
  • Report product ordering and shipping discrepancies
  • Stay current with seasonal, future, and special ads
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions
  • Practice preventive equipment maintenance and notify management of repair needs
  • Notify management of accidents, safety risks, or illegal activities
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational way
