Target is a leading retail corporation known for its commitment to providing innovative shopping experiences to customers across the United States. The company emphasizes a culture of inclusivity, teamwork, and community impact, aiming to help all families discover the joy of everyday life. With a wide range of products, from apparel and electronics to groceries, Target stores serve millions of guests daily, blending a pleasant in-store environment with efficient service. Known for its values and culture, Target prides itself on fostering meaningful experiences for its team members, helping them build and develop valuable skills for long-term career growth.
The Food & Beverage team at Target plays a vital role in enhancing the guest shopping experience by ensuring fresh, high-quality products are always available, accurately priced, and properly signed in the store’s food and beverage departments. This team specializes in the operational aspects of food service, such as replenishment, maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring food safety, and managing the presentation and promotional signage of all food and beverage areas. Being part of this team offers an excellent opportunity for those interested in food service operations and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
This particular role is for a Starbucks Barista within Target's Food & Beverage team. The Starbucks Barista is responsible for crafting high-quality, hand-prepared Starbucks beverages and foods while maintaining the highest standards of freshness and safety. The role demands attention to detail and a passion for delivering excellent service. Working as a Starbucks Barista provides valuable experience in food service operations including coffee preparation, customer engagement, and adherence to food safety standards like state and federal regulations and OSHA guidelines.
As a Starbucks Barista at Target, no two days are the same. Daily responsibilities include providing outstanding guest experiences by maintaining a fresh and well-stocked shopping environment, prioritizing guest needs, and consistently upholding Food & Beverage Standards. Baristas execute processes such as receiving food deliveries, replenishing stock, rotating and culling products, cleaning, accurate signing and pricing, and organizing reserve stock. They must stay informed about current promotions and ensure compliance with Target and Starbucks routines to provide a seamless customer experience.
Additional duties involve supporting the Starbucks Drive Up process for digital orders, maintaining an inviting dining area, engaging guests to meet or exceed their expectations, producing handcrafted Starbucks beverages and food according to specific recipes, and following all food safety requirements including monitoring temperature-sensitive items. The role also requires completing cleaning tasks, managing damaged or expired products, placing store orders accurately, inventory management, and sampling best practices. Knowledgeable Baristas will utilize tools and products from the entire Target store to resolve guest issues and improve their overall experience.
Training and certifications related to the quality control of Starbucks products are provided to ensure team members can perform their roles effectively. A culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance is highly emphasized. Baristas must work safely at all times, adhere to safety policies, report any hazards, and maintain compliance with alcohol and food safety regulations.
The ideal candidate enjoys interacting with guests and fellow team members, thrives in a fast-paced, physically active environment, and demonstrates flexibility and problem-solving skills. The role requires a flexible schedule including night shifts, weekends, holidays, and other peak shopping times. While previous Starbucks or food service experience is preferred, it is not required, as comprehensive training is provided. Baristas should have a welcoming and helpful attitude, good communication skills, the ability to work independently and in a team, and strong attention to detail.
Physical requirements include the ability to climb ladders, handle merchandise up to 44 pounds, and work in varied temperature environments ranging from cold refrigerated areas to warmer settings. The position demands reliable attendance and punctuality. Target offers a competitive pay range starting at $17.75 USD per hour with the potential to earn up to $26.65 USD per hour, reflecting experience and performance. Benefits for team members cover financial, educational, and well-being aspects, supporting a balanced and rewarding employment experience. Overall, being a Starbucks Barista at Target is a rewarding role that combines skill development, customer service excellence, and personal growth within a supportive and inclusive workplace environment.
