Job Description
Winter Park Resort, located just 67 miles from Denver, stands as the closest ski resort to the city, making it a premier destination for winter sports and outdoor enthusiasts. Nestled amidst 765,000 acres of public land, Winter Park offers boundless opportunities for adventure, from skiing and snowboarding to hiking and mountain biking during the warmer months. The resort has earned a reputation not only for its expansive terrain and scenic beauty but also for its commitment to providing exceptional guest experiences and fostering a positive work environment for its employees.
Winter Park Resort is more than just a ski destination; it is a vibrant community hub where people come together to enjoy nature, sport, and recreation. The resort is part of the Alterra Mountain Company, which connects guests to a network of world-class resorts. Employees benefit from access to a range of perks including a free season pass to Winter Park and all Alterra Resorts, discounted tickets for friends and family, and access to various health and wellness resources. The resort values its workforce and provides competitive compensation packages, inclusive of medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid parental leave for eligible employees, and a 401(k) plan with a 100% company match up to 4%. Mental health services and onsite childcare (based on availability) further demonstrate the resort’s commitment to employee wellbeing.
The Barista position at Winter Park Resort offers an exciting opportunity for individuals who thrive in fast-paced, customer-centric environments and have a passion for delivering excellent service. This seasonal role is designed for both full-time and part-time hours, providing flexibility for workers with varying availability. Baristas are the face of the resort’s coffee service, responsible for crafting high-quality beverages and food items aligned with Starbucks standards. Beyond preparation, the role emphasizes exceptional customer engagement, ensuring each visitor receives a warm welcome and friendly service.
Baristas will engage customers by taking accurate orders, preparing artisanal coffee drinks and complementary food items, and maintain cleanliness and organization in the store environment. They operate POS systems efficiently and uphold rigorous health, safety, and sanitation protocols to ensure compliance with food safety standards. Adaptability and teamwork are crucial, especially during peak periods, where supporting colleagues and managing shifting priorities contributes to an optimal customer experience.
This position demands a steady, punctual presence and an eagerness to embody Starbucks’ values and mission while representing the resort’s brand. Previous experience in customer service, particularly as a barista, is preferred, though training is provided, including mandatory food handler and allergen certification courses. Physical demands include standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, reflecting the active nature of the work. The role is exposed to indoor and outdoor weather conditions typical of a resort environment, with moderate noise levels.
Compensation ranges from $18 to $20 per hour, dependent on various factors including experience and qualifications. Winter Park Resort embraces diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all individuals. Workers are encouraged to apply promptly as recruitment timelines vary but applications are accepted for a minimum of three business days from posting. This position offers a fulfilling seasonal opportunity to join a vibrant team dedicated to exceptional service and outdoor adventure.
