The Barista role at this prestigious hotel provides a key customer service function within the property’s food and beverage operation. Baristas are responsible for taking customer orders, preparing coffee, tea, and other specialty drinks according to exact specifications, and ensuring a positive and warm customer experience throughout each interaction. This position requires a calm and collected demeanor during busy periods and the ability to anticipate guest and store needs to maintain smooth operational flow. Additionally, baristas engage with customers by connecting with them personally and assisting in new partner training through positive reinforcement and respectful coaching.

This hourly position demands adherence to Marriott and Kessler Hospitality's operational policies, including cash handling and safety protocols, to ensure a secure and efficient work environment. Baristas maintain a tidy and organized workspace to enable effective service delivery and are expected to demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality. The role also requires compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards to assure all products—beverages, whole bean coffee, and food—meet quality, recipe, and presentation requirements. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to stand for entire shift
  • Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize duties
  • Maintain warm and friendly demeanor
  • Must be punctual and maintain regular attendance
  • Available to work some weekends
  • Able to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Maintain high personal grooming and uniform standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in customer service or barista role preferred
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to maintain composure and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of coffee and tea preparation techniques is a plus
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Basic math skills for cash handling

Job Duties

  • Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep store operating to standard and to set a positive example for the shift team
  • Anticipates customer and store needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cues
  • Communicates information to manager so that the team can respond as necessary to create a warm and welcoming environment during each shift
  • Assists with new partner training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed
  • Delivers outstanding customer service to all customers by acting with a customer comes first attitude and connecting with the customer
  • Follows Starbucks as well as the property's operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety and security, to ensure the safety of all partners during each shift
  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace so that associates can locate resources and product as needed
