Located in the vibrant city of San Diego, California, at 333 W Harbor Dr, JW Marriott is currently seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Food and Beverage team member to join their hospitality team. This full-time, non-management position offers an hourly pay of $25.75 and is tip eligible, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to start or further their careers in the hospitality industry.
The role primarily involves comprehensive opening and closing duties, including setting up all necessary supplies and tools, ensuring the proper cleaning of equipment and work areas, and securely locking doors after shifts. The employee will be responsible for maintaining well-stocked and organized workstations, accurately inputting customer orders into the MICROS cash register system, handling payments, and preparing a variety of food and coffee beverages. Attention to detail is crucial—for instance, operating coffee makers and other appliances at appropriate times, bussing coffee cart areas and tables, washing dishes and utensils throughout the day, and managing cash banks and cashier reports effectively.
Safety and professionalism are critical components of this role. The associate will follow all company safety and security policies, report any unsafe conditions or incidents, complete necessary safety training, and uphold a clean, professional appearance. The position also involves delivering outstanding guest service by welcoming and acknowledging guests according to company standards, anticipating and addressing their needs, assisting individuals with disabilities, and consistently expressing genuine appreciation.
Moreover, this role demands excellent communication skills, the ability to form positive working relationships, and a strong commitment to teamwork and quality standards. Physical demands include standing, sitting, or walking for long periods, lifting and moving objects up to 25 pounds, and navigating confined or elevated spaces safely. The candidate must be adaptable and ready to perform reasonable job duties as directed by supervisors to maintain operational excellence.
Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or GED equivalent; however, no prior related work experience or supervisory experience is necessary.
