The role being offered is a full-time, non-management Food and Beverage position located at 500 Canal St, New Orleans, Louisiana. This position is vital to maintaining the high service standards and guest satisfaction that Sheraton is known for. The pay rate is $16.00 per hour with the added benefit of eligibility for tips. Open availability is preferred to accommodate the dynamic schedule of this position.
This role involves various responsibilities centered around food and beverage service, customer interaction, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing opening and closing duties, such as setting up supplies, cleaning equipment and areas, and securing the premises. They will be required to manage work areas effectively by setting up, stocking, and maintaining inventory, as well as processing orders and payments efficiently using the MICROS system. Preparing food and coffee beverages is a key part of the position, along with ensuring that all appliances are operated at the correct times. Maintaining cleanliness by bus staff areas, cleaning dishes, utensils, tables, and equipment throughout shifts is also essential.
In addition to the operational aspects, the role requires strict adherence to company policies, safety procedures, and security guidelines. The associate will be proactive in reporting any unsafe work conditions or incidents and will engage in ongoing safety training and certification to uphold Sheraton's standards. A professional appearance and demeanor are mandatory, reflecting Sheraton's commitment to quality and guest satisfaction.
Guest interaction is a significant component of this position. The associate will welcome and acknowledge guests, anticipate and fulfill their service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and ensure that every guest feels genuinely appreciated. Effective communication skills are important, as is the ability to work cohesively with team members to achieve common goals. Physical requirements of the job include the ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods, lift and move objects up to 25 pounds, and navigate confined or elevated spaces.
This position does not require prior supervisory experience or specialized licenses or certifications, and no related work experience is necessary, making it suitable for individuals new to the hospitality industry. A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred but not mandatory.
