As a Barista at Hy-Vee, you will be an essential member of the Coffee Shop team, tasked with preparing and serving coffee and other related products while maintaining outstanding customer service standards. This non-exempt, part-time or full-time position requires flexibility to cover night and weekend shifts, ensuring that the coffee shop is well-staffed during peak hours. You will be responsible for reviewing and filling customer orders, ensuring food safety, and maintaining a clean, organized work area. Providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to all customers and team members is vital to this role. Your personality and attention to detail will directly impact the customer’s experience, reinforcing Hy-Vee’s reputation as a welcoming and reliable retailer. The Barista will also engage in various operational duties including product replenishment, operating registers, and adhering to company policies related to hygiene and professionalism. Job Requirements

Less than high school or equivalent experience
Six months or less of related work experience
Ability to perform medium physical work involving exertion of up to 50 pounds occasionally
Clarity of vision at distances more than 20 inches and less than 20 feet
Ability to perform physical activities including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
Willingness to work night and weekend shifts
Ability to smile and engage positively with customers
Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening

Job Qualifications

Less than high school or equivalent experience
Six months or less of similar or related work experience
Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions
Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction
Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
Ability to write identifying information and request supplies orally or in writing

Job Duties

Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service
Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner
Make an effort to learn customers’ names and address them by name when possible
Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading or unloading heavy items, noting and passing along customer suggestions
Answer the telephone promptly and provide friendly service including taking orders
Take customer orders at the counter
Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
Handle food in a safe manner and ensure the work area is clean and neat
Review the status and appearance of food for freshness
Ensure adequate food supply is ready and on hand and follow a production list
Anticipate product needs daily
Prepare and replenish products as necessary
Check in product, put product away, and review invoices
Run department registers and handle payments
Remove trash in a timely manner
Maintain adherence to hygiene and dress guidelines
Adhere to company policies and store guidelines
Report to work as scheduled and on time
Wash dishes as necessary
Order products and supplies as necessary
Price products for customers
Assist in other store areas as needed
Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required
