Job Description
Target is a leading retail corporation known for its commitment to delivering exceptional shopping experiences to families across the United States. With a strong emphasis on community values, inclusivity, and continuous innovation, Target has grown into one of the nation's most beloved brands. The company prides itself on fostering a positive work culture that encourages personal growth, development, and meaningful engagement among its team members. Target's wide range of products and services, from food and beverages to household goods and apparel, are carefully curated to help guests discover the joy in everyday life, making it a preferred destination for millions of customers.
The Food & Beverage team at Target plays a vital role in ensuring that all guests receive a consistent and enjoyable experience within the store's food service areas. This team is responsible for maintaining product freshness, availability, and accurate pricing, while closely following food safety regulations and operational efficiency practices. Working in this capacity, employees are trained to handle food and beverage replenishment, inventory accuracy, pricing, promotional signage, and presentation, ensuring all aspects of the food services' operational excellence.
The role of a Starbucks Barista at Target is uniquely exciting and offers dynamic workdays filled with interaction, teamwork, and skill development. This position is hourly paid starting at $20.00 USD per hour and offers an opportunity to build retail and customer service skills within a globally recognized coffee brand inside Target stores. Starbucks Baristas at Target are expected to create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience by curating handcrafted Starbucks beverages while managing food quality and freshness. They must adhere to state and federal food safety and OSHA guidelines to ensure safety and quality standards are met.
A typical day as a Starbucks Barista involves greeting guests warmly at different distances upon entering the Starbucks area, helping them find what they need, resolving their issues, and ending every transaction with sincere gratitude. These roles demand strong team collaboration while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude. Baristas are also tasked with maintaining food and beverage standards, including stock replenishment, inventory management, cleaning protocols, and the storage of products. They stay informed about current promotions and ensure compliance with all routines for consistent guest experiences.
Additionally, Baristas support operational processes like the Starbucks Drive-Up process, keeping dining areas inviting, and engaging guests to exceed expectations. Crafting beverages and food to Starbucks specifications, following food safety practices including temperature monitoring, and completing routine cleaning are crucial duties. Baristas must constantly exhibit a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance, working safely and reporting hazards when identified. They may also back up other guest services such as cashiering, order pickup, and the Drive-Up window, always adhering to the necessary beverage laws and policies.
Ideal candidates for this role thrive in fast-paced, physically active environments with flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays. They value teamwork, creative problem-solving, and enjoy engaging with others, whether customers or colleagues. Previous Starbucks or food service experience is beneficial but not necessary, as thorough training is provided. The role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to multitask efficiently, and resilience under pressure.
Physical requirements include the ability to climb ladders, move merchandise safely, and withstand varying temperatures, including refrigeration conditions. Target offers competitive benefits to eligible team members, including health insurance, dental insurance, and paid time off. In addition, Target is committed to inclusive hiring practices, offering accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and considering qualified applicants with criminal histories in adherence to local fair chance ordinances.
