Job Description

Brookshire Grocery Company (BGC), headquartered in Tyler, Texas, is a prominent regional grocery retailer operating over 215 stores under five unique banners including Brookshire's Grocery Company, Super 1 Foods, Spring Market, Fresh by Brookshire's, and Reasor's. These banners serve communities across Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, making BGC a staple in the grocery industry within the southern United States. With a commitment not only to business but also to building vibrant communities, BGC fosters an inclusive and supportive workplace culture where employees, referred to as partners, are valued and given opportunities to thrive personally and professionally.

The company emphasizes a holistic approach to employee wellness, providing comprehensive medical, vision, dental, and prescription coverage. Alongside generous paid time off, 401(k) retirement plans with company contributions, and exclusive employee discounts, BGC invests in employee growth through scholarships and educational support. Additionally, partners have access to recreational amenities such as a 205-acre outdoor recreation area, underscoring the company's dedication to balancing work and personal life.

The Coffee Barista position at BGC is a dynamic role centered on preparing, brewing, and serving an array of coffee and related beverage products. This retail role requires a focus on upholding quality control and food safety standards while ensuring an inviting customer experience. The barista will prepare hot and cold beverages including coffee, espresso drinks, and teas according to precise recipes and preparation techniques. In addition to beverage preparation, baristas are responsible for monitoring stock levels, rotating products to maintain freshness, and maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment.

Customer service is at the heart of this role, with expectations to greet customers warmly, respond to inquiries, and facilitate ordering both in person and by phone. The position requires the ability to operate various pieces of equipment such as espresso machines, coffee grinders, and commercial ovens safely and effectively. It also involves working collaboratively with fellow partners to promote a team-oriented atmosphere.

Given the nature of the retail and food service environment, the role demands flexibility in schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. It requires physical stamina for standing, walking, lifting up to 75 pounds occasionally, and performing repetitive hand and arm movements. BGC ensures that baristas receive thorough training, including completion of the Starbucks Barista Basics Training Program and food handler certification, to uphold high standards of performance.

Joining BGC means becoming part of a company that supports your goals, celebrates your achievements, and provides a platform for continuous development. Whether you are beginning your career or seeking upward mobility, BGC offers a welcoming community with endless growth opportunities in the grocery and retail food sector. The Coffee Barista role is not just a job but a chance to contribute to a bigger mission, creating memorable customer experiences through quality beverages and excellent service in a thriving, community-focused company.
