Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Exceptional proven cooking experience
  • bachelor's or associate degree in Culinary Arts advantageous
  • food handler's license required
  • strong attention to detail for ingredient and measurement adherence

  • ability to work well under pressure

  • ability to make quick decisions

Job Duties

  • Prepare food to be served in a timely manner while following recipes and directions from executive and sous chefs
  • keep work areas clean and organized before, during, and after events
  • assist executive chef and sous chef with menu creation
  • prepare meal ingredients including washing, peeling, cutting, slicing, and marinating
  • ensure adherence to MSG standards for quality, quantity, presentation, and safety
  • check quality and quantity of food leaving the kitchen
  • ensure dishes are served at correct quality, portion size, and temperature
  • comply consistently with Department of Health guidelines
  • complete inventory checklists and ensure proper food rotation (FIFO)
  • perform cleaning tasks including scrubbing work surfaces and walls, sweeping, mopping, and cleaning cooking equipment
  • assess quality of food supplies to meet standards
  • carry out duties assigned by executive or sous chef
