The Stain Formulation Specialist position at Wilsonart, located in Charleston, is an essential role responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of stains and paints used in Wilsonart's manufacturing processes. The specialist conducts pre-booth quality checks of equipment and mixes paints and stains using the MaestroHue system under the direction of the Operations Manager. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to achieve rigorous quality standards consistently. The Specialist is also responsible for maintaining an organized and clean work environment, ensuring equipment is in proper working condition, and supporting overall site goals related to production and quality. This full-time position provides a dynamic work setting for individuals ready to engage in a hands-on role that combines both technical skill and operational effectiveness.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One or more years experience working with mixing and matching stains and paints
  • Ability to stand and walk continuously
  • Ability to lift, handle, and carry materials or equipment weighing 20 to 50 pounds
  • Willingness to work in an environment exposed to fumes, temperature extremes, and loud noises
  • Flexibility to perform warehouse duties as business needs require

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One or more years experience working with mixing and matching stains and paints
  • Comprehensive understanding of safety standards and applicable regulations
  • Effective communication skills suited for a production setting
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Basic to intermediate mathematical skills including precise measurement and proportion calculations
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to pass a color vision test
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new processes and tools

Job Duties

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with company and regulatory standards
  • Perform pre-booth quality inspections of equipment to ensure optimal operation
  • Accurately mix paints and stains using MaestroHue and other approved tools or systems
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures when handling hazardous materials
  • Consistently meet daily production and quality targets to support site goals
  • Keep all work areas including the paint mixing room, spray booth, and related equipment clean, organized, and in proper working condition
  • Perform other tasks as needed under the direction of the Operations Manager
