Job Description

OEG Sports & Entertainment is a premier sports and entertainment company based in the heart of Edmonton's ICE District. The company has a well-established reputation for delivering some of North America's leading sports and entertainment experiences, connecting fans to their passions through world-class events and teams. OEG is the proud owner of the Edmonton Oilers, a five-time Stanley Cup Champion NHL team, the Edmonton Oil Kings, a three-time Memorial Cup Champion WHL team, and the Bakersfield Condors, an AHL team renowned for their competitive spirit. OEG also operates Rogers Place, which is recognized as North America's premier sports and entertainment venue, further emphasizing their commitment to creating exceptional experiences for sports fans and visitors alike.

The Bakersfield Condors are an integral part of the OEG family, exemplifying a collaborative and dynamic culture under the slogan "One Team." With a history of success spanning over 28 years, the Condors have cultivated deep community ties in Bakersfield, California, a rapidly growing city in the southern Central Valley that offers a blend of small-town charm and big-city amenities. The Condors play their home games in an 8,500-seat arena located in downtown Bakersfield, providing fans with an accessible and vibrant game-day atmosphere.

The Stage Manager role at OEG Sports & Entertainment is a vital position within the Event Operations and Retail team that supports the flawless execution of in-game entertainment elements during Bakersfield Condors home games. Reporting directly to the Coordinator of Event Operations and Retail, the Stage Manager assists with various live event activities including fan engagement, promotions, sponsorship activations, mascot interactions, and scripted announcements.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow precise timelines and scripts while managing any necessary improvisations in a fast-paced environment. The role requires active problem-solving skills and effective communication to relay updates or changes promptly among the game presentation team. Additionally, the Stage Manager handles the preparation, management, and storage of all props and materials used during events, ensuring that every entertainment segment is executed accurately and on time.

This role also involves direct interaction with participants in promotions and activities, ensuring clear communication and the correct distribution of prizes as per event guidelines. The Stage Manager is indispensable to the successful setup and teardown of all Condors home games, contributing to the smooth operation and positive fan experience that the Bakersfield Condors strive to deliver.

Ideal candidates will possess a passion for the sports and entertainment industry, strong verbal and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work comfortably in large crowds while standing for extended periods. Schedule flexibility is essential, as the role includes evening, weekend, and holiday shifts based on the AHL game schedule. Familiarity with hockey and the Bakersfield Condors organization is advantageous but not required.

The position starts with a competitive wage of $16.90 per hour, reflecting the importance of the role in delivering exceptional live event experiences. Those who join the OEG Sports & Entertainment team can expect a supportive environment that fosters growth, collaboration, and enjoyment across all levels of the organization.
