The role of the Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) at Green Mountain Surgery Center is an integral position within the perioperative team. The RN is responsible for delivering safe, evidence-based nursing care throughout the perioperative continuum, in line with standards set by AORN, ASPAN, SGNA, and the Vermont State Practice Act. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care during surgery and endoscopy procedures. The RN collaborates closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members to support efficient and patient-focused surgical services. In addition to direct patient care, the role involves preparing procedure rooms, managing equipment and supplies, starting IVs, assisting physicians during cases, and monitoring patient recovery to ensure optimal outcomes. The nurse also provides thorough patient and family education related to procedures and recovery.
