Job Description
Green Mountain Surgery Center is Vermont's only independent multi-specialty Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), known for delivering high-quality, efficient, and compassionate outpatient surgical care. Located just outside Burlington, Vermont, this center prides itself on its collaborative and fast-paced environment, providing services across various surgical specialties and endoscopy procedures. The facility is recognized for its commitment to clinical excellence, innovation, and patient-centered care. As a local and independent institution, Green Mountain Surgery Center focuses on fostering a positive workplace culture where teamwork, communication, and quality patient outcomes are top priorities. The ASC operates with a predictable outpatient surgery schedule, enabling a structured work environment that appeals to healthcare professionals seeking work-life balance within a high-performing surgical team.
The role of the Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) at Green Mountain Surgery Center is an integral position within the perioperative team. The RN is responsible for delivering safe, evidence-based nursing care throughout the perioperative continuum, in line with standards set by AORN, ASPAN, SGNA, and the Vermont State Practice Act. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care during surgery and endoscopy procedures. The RN collaborates closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members to support efficient and patient-focused surgical services. In addition to direct patient care, the role involves preparing procedure rooms, managing equipment and supplies, starting IVs, assisting physicians during cases, and monitoring patient recovery to ensure optimal outcomes. The nurse also provides thorough patient and family education related to procedures and recovery. A passion for maintaining clinical competencies and ongoing professional development is essential, as this role encourages cross-training across perioperative services to support the center's multi-specialty operations. This position is ideal for a nurse who thrives in a fast-paced setting, values teamwork, and is dedicated to delivering an exceptional patient experience. Benefits of joining Green Mountain Surgery Center include a competitive salary with a comprehensive benefits package consisting of health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, parental and family leave, as well as 401(k) options with matching and profit-sharing bonuses, fostering both personal well-being and financial growth. The center emphasizes professional growth and a supportive leadership team, ensuring a rewarding career path for perioperative nursing professionals committed to making a meaningful impact in outpatient surgical care.
