The role of Staff Pharmacist at CVS Health plays a critical part in delivering the company’s purpose and values. This full-time position, with a typical pay range of $60.00 - $76.00 per hour, involves leading the pharmacy team and ensuring the highest standards of safe and efficient pharmacy operations. Staff Pharmacists at CVS Health support the Pharmacy Manager by overseeing daily pharmacy activities, managing and improving patient care, and fostering a culture of excellence in each retail location. They act as role models, demonstrating genuine care and empathy while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies. Staff Pharmacists are responsible for the safe dispensing of prescriptions, counseling patients about medications, administering immunizations, and collaborating with healthcare teams to resolve insurance or medication issues. Leadership responsibilities include coaching pharmacy team members, reinforcing safety procedures, and managing pharmacy inventory with special attention to protecting cold chain products.

This role demands flexibility and a commitment to continuous learning. Staff Pharmacists maintain updated clinical and technical skills, pursue continuing medical education, and actively seek opportunities to expand their knowledge in order to support patient health outcomes effectively. They also contribute to positive patient experiences by promoting compassionate care practices and ensuring pharmacy operations comply with state Board of Pharmacy regulations and federal standards. The position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage challenging interactions with patients and colleagues professionally. Physical demands include being mobile for extended periods and the ability to lift or move items as necessary. Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
  • Not listed on the DEA Excluded Parties list

Job Duties

  • Manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
  • Oversee pharmacy operations as a proxy for the Pharmacy Manager during bench shifts
  • Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the primary pharmacist-on-duty
  • Ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and safety guardrails
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating compassionate care and resolving insurance or medication issues
  • Proactively offer immunizations and engage Pharmacy Technicians in immunizing practices
  • Support management of pharmacy inventory with focus on protecting cold chain products
  • Partner with Pharmacy Manager to ensure compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations
  • Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills through training and continuing education
  • Support access to care via pharmacist-delivered clinical services such as testing and prescribing where permissible
  • Comply with all relevant federal and state laws, professional standards, and CVS Health policies
