We are currently seeking a motivated and skilled Housekeeper/Janitor to join our dynamic team. This full-time, non-exempt position plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of both indoor and outdoor environments within our residential community. The Housekeeper/Janitor will be entrusted with advanced cleaning tasks that require specialized training and proven skill. Responsibilities include performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties such as sweeping, mopping, shampooing carpets, dusting, polishing surfaces, window cleaning, disposal of trash, and replacing supplies like light bulbs. This position also involves daily inspections of assigned areas to identify and report any discrepancies or maintenance concerns to the supervisor.

The ideal candidate will have experience operating cleaning equipment safely and effectively, as well as a strong understanding of OSHA safety guidelines for handling hazardous cleaning chemicals. Maintaining friendly and professional interactions throughout the community is vital, as this role frequently involves visibility and interaction with residents and staff. The Housekeeper/Janitor is expected to ensure all security and safety procedures are strictly followed while completing tasks. They will also be responsible for restocking sanitary supplies such as hand towels, soap, and toilet paper in restrooms, and performing routine but detailed cleaning of restroom fixtures including toilets, urinals, mirrors, sinks, and counters.

This role requires the physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for prolonged periods, navigate tight and small spaces, and work effectively in varying weather conditions outdoors. The schedule involves weekend and weekday shifts, specifically Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 6am to 2:30pm, and Thursday and Friday from 10am to 6:30pm. Compensation for this position is $18 hourly.

Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalency preferred
  • previous custodial experience preferred
  • ability to lift 50 lbs following appropriate safety procedures
  • ability to work in an upright standing position for long periods of time
  • ability to crawl in small and tight spaces
  • ability to work in different environmental working conditions such as heat, cold, wind, rain

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • performs a variety of cleaning/maintenance duties as assigned including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, shampooing, dusting, polishing, trash disposal, replacing light bulbs and window cleaning
  • informs supervisor of needed supplies
  • maintains all cleaning solutions in accordance to OSHA requirements for hazardous chemicals
  • removes trash from premises and assists in emergency cleaning
  • ability to properly utilize new equipment and follow safety procedures prior to using this equipment
  • maintains friendly and professional attitude
  • responsible for maintaining the appropriate level of sanitary and cleaning supplies for assigned areas
  • inspects all assigned areas daily and reports all cleaning and maintenance discrepancies to supervisor
  • ensures that security procedures are adhered to at all times
  • ensures all safety precautions are followed while performing work
  • completes daily work orders as scheduled
  • maintains assigned equipment in good working condition
  • cleans restrooms including sweeping and mopping floors, refilling dispensers such as hand towels, toilet paper and hand soap, cleans toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors and counters
  • empties/removes trash
  • reports any discrepancies or deficiencies to supervisor
