We are currently seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to fill the role of Staff Development Coordinator (SDC) within our management team. This position is critical as it directly supports the Director of Nursing Services in managing the day-to-day operations of the Nursing Services Department. The SDC will be responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing nursing services, ensuring that all activities align with the applicable laws and guidelines governing long-term care facilities. The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of nursing theory, techniques, and practices, along with the ability to organize and deliver educational programs and mandatory training for nursing staff.
The Staff Development Coordinator will play a vital role in maintaining high standards of care by updating nursing policies and procedures regularly, conducting orientation and ongoing training sessions, and coordinating educational needs assessments for the facility. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team. Additional responsibilities include assisting with surveys and inspections by regulatory agencies, monitoring nursing documentation, scheduling daily rounds, and implementing corrective action plans when necessary.

Job Requirements
- Licensed practical nurse (LPN) license in good standing
- Knowledge of nursing theory, techniques and practices
- Good verbal and communication skills
- Ability to read and write legibly
- Previous healthcare facility experience
- Knowledge of long term care laws and regulations
- Basic computer skills
Job Qualifications
- Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in good standing and currently licensed by the state
- Must have thorough knowledge of nursing theory, techniques and practices
- Must have good verbal and communication skills with the ability to demonstrate organizational and educational skills
- Must show ability to read and write in a legible and understandable manner
- Previous experience in a hospital, long term care facility or other healthcare related facility
- Must be knowledgeable of general, rehabilitative and restorative nursing and medical practices and procedures and laws, regulations and guidelines governing long term care
- Must have basic computer skills
Job Duties
- Participate in developing, maintaining and periodically updating written nursing policies, procedures, reference materials, manual, objectives and philosophies
- Provide general orientation, mandatory in-services, continuing education, and other training to meet all department and facility needs and regulatory requirements
- Determine and assess facility education needs
- Plan, develop, and implement training
- Assist in developing and implementing methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services
- Implement plans of action to correct deficiencies
- Participate in surveys and inspections by government agencies
- Make reports and recommendations to the Director of Nursing Services and Administrator concerning operations of the department
- Schedule daily rounds and monitor resident's treatment and medications to ensure residents are receiving proper care
- Review nurse's notes to ensure proper documentation is maintained relating to resident's treatment, medications and conditions
- Other duties as assigned
