Job Description
Young Life is a prominent Christian ministry organization dedicated to evangelism and discipleship among youth. Established with a mission to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith, Young Life has grown into a well-respected organization that operates in communities across the United States and around the world. Young Life is committed to maintaining a Christ-centered environment, and all employees and volunteers are expected to uphold and embody the organization's Statement of Faith. This work culture fosters a supportive and spiritually enriching atmosphere where staff and volunteers can thrive both professionally and personally while making a significant impact on the lives of young people.
This position is for a Staff Associate I in the vibrant Young Life areas of Redwood City and San Carlos, California, locations known for their wonderful mix of sunshine, beautiful natural surroundings, and a laid-back yet engaging community atmosphere. As a Staff Associate, you will work closely with a seasoned Area Director and a dynamic team of committed volunteer leaders. This role offers a unique blend of hands-on ministry experience and leadership development within a mission-driven, supportive environment. The salary range for this position is $48,000 to $65,000 annually, including a cost of living adjustment, with the final salary being negotiable based on the candidate’s background, experience, and fundraising capabilities.
In this role, you will receive both formal training and valuable field ministry exposure to effectively carry out and manage various aspects of Young Life’s ministry. Your responsibilities will encompass spiritual development, leadership development, resource development, direct ministry involvement, and ministry support. You will be encouraged to cultivate a deep personal spiritual life, actively participate in the Young Life community, and lead teams in evangelism and discipleship efforts. The position also emphasizes recruiting, training, and supporting volunteer leaders, managing donor relations, fundraising, and maintaining robust ministry administration including finance and communication.
Young Life upholds high standards for its staff, requiring a strong personal commitment to the Christian faith, excellent relational and communication skills, and the physical stamina to handle the demands of camp environments and outdoor ministry settings. Ongoing training and development opportunities are provided, including core and regional training courses aimed at enhancing personal maturity, character, and ministry effectiveness.
This is an extraordinary opportunity for someone passionate about youth ministry and eager to grow both in faith and leadership skills while making a meaningful difference in the community. If you are excited about joining a faith-driven, active team that values spiritual growth and leadership, Young Life encourages you to apply while understanding and aligning with their specific faith commitments and ministry expectations.
