Job Description
Young Life is a well-established Christian ministry organization dedicated to evangelism and discipleship among teenagers. Founded with the purpose of proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ, Young Life operates with a clear mission to influence young minds through relational ministry, helping them grow in their faith and personal development. This non-profit organization carries a strong emphasis on Christian values, spiritual growth, and community impact, serving teenagers across various communities by providing mentorship, encouragement, and opportunities to grow both spiritually and socially.
The specific region in focus, Douglas County, Colorado, is a thriving suburban community located between Denver and Colorado Springs. It boasts over 30,000 teenagers and is enriched with top-ranked schools and a robust community of alumni and adults who support the ministry initiatives. Douglas County has become a vital area for Young Life to expand its outreach, capitalizing on the region’s growth and existing interest in spiritual development among youth. This area presents unique opportunities for ministry work, including active engagement in neighborhoods like Highlands Ranch, Castle Rock, and Parker. With over 30 years of ministry experience in this region and several premier camp properties nearby, Young Life is spearheading a fresh chapter of community impact and spiritual outreach in Douglas County.
The role of YL Staff Associate I is designed for individuals who are driven by faith and possess a strong desire to learn and grow in ministry. This position involves formal training combined with direct field ministry experience to effectively carry out and manage Young Life’s core mission. Staff Associates play a vital part in fostering spiritual development among youth and church communities, equipping leaders, overseeing resource development, and executing direct ministry functions such as contact work, club leadership, and camp involvement.
Staff Associates will develop a personal spiritual growth plan, participate actively in a church community, and lead spiritual development teams. Leadership development includes recruiting, training, and supervising volunteer teams to build strong networks of ministry support. Resource development involves fundraising, donor communications, and cultivating strategic relationships within the community. Direct ministry duties require engaging youth through contact work, clubs, Campaigners discipleship groups, and camping programs. Additionally, ministry support functions such as accounting, administration, communication, and strategic planning are critical to the role.
This position is built on classic Young Life values—relentless love and pursuit of Jesus Christ—requiring candidates to commit fully to the organization's Statement of Faith and ministry objectives. The role demands humility, teachability, relational skills, and a steadfast commitment to confidentiality and professionalism. Training is mandatory, including core courses in leadership and apologetics completed within the first two years.
This opportunity is excellent for individuals seeking to grow personally and professionally in Christian ministry within a supportive and vibrant community-focused environment. Being part of the Douglas County Young Life staff means contributing to a growing movement to brighten the lives of teenagers through faith, relationships, and outreach. Candidates should be ready for the physical demands of ministry work, including outdoor activities like hiking and horseback riding at camp environments. Ultimately, the role promises a fulfilling blend of spiritual growth, leadership development, community impact, and hands-on ministry experience at a well-respected Christian non-profit organization.
