Job Description

Young Life is a renowned Christian youth organization dedicated to evangelism, discipleship, and fostering spiritual growth among young individuals. Established with a mission to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in faith, Young Life operates through various outreach programs, camps, clubs, and community involvement initiatives. This nonprofit ministry focuses on building relationships, encouraging spiritual development, and providing a supportive environment for youth to explore and deepen their Christian beliefs. Young Life's operations are sustained through committed staff and volunteers who share a common goal: to minister as servants of God with the primary responsibility of proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ. As at the core of their ministry is an expectation for all employees to sign a Statement of Faith, showcasing their dedication to Christian service and adherence to biblical principles.

The position of YL Staff Associate I offers an exciting opportunity for individuals seeking to engage deeply in Christian ministry while gaining substantial training and field ministry experience. This role is designed for those who feel called to partner with Young Life's mission by effectively carrying out organizational ministry efforts. Staff Associates are entrusted with responsibilities that span spiritual development, leadership building, resource generation, direct ministry activities, and administrative support. The role requires a vibrant spiritual life that includes prayer, regular church participation, and personal growth in understanding God’s word. Staff Associates are expected to lead teams in spiritual development and to model excellence in various ministry functions such as contact work, club leadership, and camp arrangements.

The salary range for the YL Staff Associate I position is $32,670 to $49,100 annually, indicating a full-time employment status with ample opportunities for vocational growth within the organization. Young Life demands high levels of commitment, including readiness to fulfill ministry duties both during and outside normal working hours and maintaining conduct aligned with biblical standards. Training and development are integral to this role. It includes completing Core Training Phase One — comprising New Staff Training, Leadership I and II, Apologetics, and other courses within the first two years. Staff Associates also receive mentorship and supervision aimed at enhancing personal spiritual maturity and ministry skills.

This role requires involvement in multiple facets of ministry. From recruiting and training volunteer leaders, fostering donor relationships, to planning fundraising activities and ensuring accurate data management, the position demands a multi-skilled individual with a passion for ministry and organizational excellence. Working conditions may include exposure to the physical challenges typical of camp environments, such as varying weather conditions and physically demanding activities like hiking, horseback riding, and boating. The prospective candidate must be prepared to embrace these challenges to effectively serve the mission of Young Life.

Young Life is a unique place for those who desire to grow personally and spiritually while investing their gifts in a ministry that profoundly impacts the lives of young people and their communities. This role is ideal for candidates who have prior ministry experience, excellent relational skills with youth and adults, effective communication abilities, and a commitment to the ethical standards and confidentiality expected in ministry work. YL Staff Associate I not only serves as a key ministry leader but also as a vital link connecting young people with Christ through intentional ministry strategies and community engagement.
