Job Description

StarCare Specialty Health Systems is a leading healthcare provider specializing in mental health and related services. Known for its dedication to delivering comprehensive and compassionate care, StarCare serves the communities of Lubbock, Hockley, Lynn, Crosby, and Cochran counties. Since its establishment in 1967, the organization has been committed to building a healthier future for individuals impacted by mental health, intellectual disabilities, and substance use disorders. As the state-designated Local Authority, StarCare plays a vital role in facilitating access to necessary healthcare resources and advocating for the well-being of its clients. The organization collaborates with a wide network of community stakeholders to ensure that services are accessible, effective, and tailored to support individual choice and dignity. Employees at StarCare benefit from a collaborative and supportive work environment that encourages professional growth and fosters a strong sense of purpose and pride.

StarCare Specialty Health Systems is currently seeking a dedicated Dietary Manager for its Sunrise Canyon Hospital, a 30-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital. The hospital specializes in providing quality inpatient mental healthcare for patients requiring specialized psychiatric treatment. This full-time exempt position operates under the direct supervision of the Associate Hospital Administrator. The Dietary Manager will have broad latitude to exercise initiative and independent judgment in managing the dietary department’s functions and supporting the hospital’s mission and values.

In this crucial role, the Dietary Manager will oversee the preparation and provision of nutritious meals in a psychiatric care setting. The manager is responsible for developing nutritional care plans, ensuring adherence to food handling and sanitation practices, and maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Additionally, this position will involve supervising dietary staff, managing record-keeping systems, and communicating effectively with staff and leadership to promote high-quality dietary services. A key component of the role is the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage time effectively while maintaining a focus on patient care and departmental efficiency.

The position offers a traditional Monday through Friday schedule, 8am to 5pm, with some flexibility to accommodate the department’s needs. StarCare provides a comprehensive employee benefit package including company-paid medical coverage, fully funded employer HSA contributions, life insurance, hospital indemnity, a retirement plan with up to 12% employer match, front-loaded paid time off, thirteen paid holidays, sabbatical leave, and longevity and employee referral incentives. This role not only provides an opportunity to work in a dynamic and meaningful healthcare environment but also supports a career path in healthcare management with specialized experience in dietary services within psychiatric settings. Potential candidates who are passionate about making a difference and interested in contributing to the health and well-being of vulnerable populations will find this position rewarding and impactful.
