The role involves providing timely, quality maintenance services for FedEx’s vehicle fleet and ground support equipment. This includes conducting preventative maintenance, troubleshooting complex mechanical issues, performing repairs and modifications, and documenting all work accurately using FedEx's computer systems for repair orders and parts management. The position requires adherence to OSHA and DOT standards to ensure safety and regulatory compliance. A key responsibility is to guide and support a team of technicians and trainees, fostering a cooperative and productive work environment. The candidate must possess the ability to work independently for extended periods, maintain alertness in a challenging warehouse or shop environment that may be noisy and not climate-controlled, and handle physical lifting tasks safely. Valid driver’s license and compliance with federal motor carrier safety regulations are mandatory, including meeting the medical requirements for a safety-sensitive position. This role demands technical proficiency across various motorized equipment, including hydraulic, gasoline, diesel, electric, and hybrid vehicles, as well as familiarity with automotive tools and diagnostic equipment. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Four years of fleet, automotive or truck vehicle advanced technical repair and maintenance experience
  • Possession of a basic set of automotive hand tools including metric sizes
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and maneuver heavier weights with assistance
  • Ability to work independently for extended periods
  • Ability to work in noisy, non-air-conditioned or non-heated environments
  • Willingness to work any shift
  • Valid driver’s license in state of residence
  • Must meet section 391 of federal motor carrier safety regulations
  • Medical exam required
  • Non-covered safety-sensitive position

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Vocational training from an accredited automotive-related vocational school preferred
  • ASE Master certification preferred
  • Four years of advanced technical repair and maintenance experience with fleet, automotive, or truck vehicles
  • Proficiency in operating a personal computer
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read and understand English traffic and safety communications

Job Duties

  • Provide timely, quality maintenance for FedEx vehicle fleet and ground support equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues across various vehicle types
  • Document work accurately with repair orders and parts ordering using FedEx computer systems
