Job Description
This Massachusetts public sector organization is dedicated to providing reliable and efficient IT services that support critical public infrastructure and services. As a reputable leader in the governmental IT space, the organization focuses on maintaining robust, secure, and scalable IT environments that serve a wide range of public needs. Operating in a large-scale and technically complex setting, the organization values innovation, operational excellence, and long-term IT modernization initiatives that enhance infrastructure stability and resiliency for mission-critical operations.
The Senior Systems Administrator role is a full-time position that offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the organization’s enterprise IT environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining core infrastructure systems including Dell/EMC storage solutions, Rubrik and Dell backup environments, VMware virtualization platforms, and Windows Active Directory services. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the availability, performance, and security of infrastructure systems that underpin essential public services.
The role emphasizes hands-on technical expertise with enterprise storage and virtualization technologies, along with a strong focus on disaster recovery and cybersecurity hardening. The Senior Systems Administrator will manage highly available virtualized environments, optimize SAN storage performance, and lead backup and recovery operations to protect against data loss and ensure business continuity. Collaboration with cybersecurity, database, and other infrastructure teams is vital to drive best practices across security, backup, and disaster recovery processes.
Candidates must have 7 to 10 plus years of experience in systems administration or infrastructure engineering, strong skills with VMware ESXi and vCenter management, and proven experience with enterprise storage systems such as Dell/EMC Unity or NetApp. Experience with PowerShell scripting or similar automation tools is also essential to optimize operational efficiency. The position offers involvement in advanced infrastructure projects, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and contributing to strategic initiatives that improve the organization’s IT posture. This role also requires the ability to support maintenance and incident response activities outside normal business hours.
This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned infrastructure professional who thrives on managing complex, mission-critical enterprise systems in a public sector setting. The role provides access to public sector pension plans and benefits, including comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with paid time off and retirement benefits. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US full-time currently and in the future. Joining this team means becoming part of an organization committed to technological excellence, public service, and infrastructure modernization that impacts the community positively and sustainably.
