Job Description
Stericycle, recently acquired by WM, is a leading environmental services company specializing in medical waste management, secure information destruction, and compliance solutions. As part of WM, a renowned provider of waste management and environmental services, Stericycle continues to expand its reach and enhance its offerings to meet the evolving needs of its diverse customer base. The company prides itself on safety, compliance, and customer service excellence within the transportation and logistics sectors relevant to its operations.
The Sr. Transportation Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing the transportation department across one or more locations within a defined geographic area. This leadership position ensures operational efficiency by managing a team of up to 20 local box truck drivers and handling complex logistics challenges. The Sr. Transportation Supervisor is responsible for route management, driver performance, customer service, compliance with safety regulations, and the overall productivity of the transportation team.
This position requires a hands-on approach, with duties that include active participation in route supervision, driver development, and close collaboration with customer service representatives, operations, and support teams. The Sr. Transportation Supervisor ensures that all routes are completed on schedule and that customer expectations are consistently met or exceeded. The role demands strong problem-solving skills to address operational difficulties such as vehicle breakdowns or full truckloads, maintaining high service quality through data-driven decisions and continuous improvement.
Candidates in this role must possess a Class A CDL license to drive tractor trailers when needed and demonstrate proven leadership in a structured environment. The position involves working Monday through Friday with Saturday shifts as necessary, starting early in the day to align with route schedules beginning at 5 a.m. This schedule demands reliability and a commitment to operational excellence.
Key responsibilities include managing inventory supplies, route scheduling, driver debriefs, customer interaction records, and service issue resolution using systems like SAP. The Sr. Transportation Supervisor also oversees company equipment and assets, ensures compliance with Department of Transportation regulations, and conducts safety meetings to promote a secure working environment.
In addition to operational duties, this role focuses heavily on team development through selecting, training, coaching, and conducting performance appraisals to foster a qualified and diverse workforce. Regular ride-alongs and spot checks ensure drivers adhere to company standards and maintain high levels of productivity and customer service.
Stericycle's integration with WM provides a robust benefits package including competitive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options, plus short-term disability, a stock purchase plan, 401(k) company match, paid vacation, holidays, and personal days. This opportunity is ideal for experienced transportation supervisors seeking a dynamic, growth-oriented environment with a national industry leader in environmental and waste management solutions.
