Job Description

The American Heart Association (AHA) is a longstanding and reputable organization dedicated to reducing deaths caused by cardiovascular diseases. Founded in 1924, the AHA has a rich history of leading breakthroughs and implementing proven solutions in science, policy, and care for healthier communities worldwide. The organization is a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives, committed to inclusivity regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, and other diverse identities. With a mission focused on impacting the health sector significantly, the AHA continuously innovates and engages passionate individuals who aspire to drive meaningful change in health outcomes. The culture at AHA, known as #TheAHALife, emphasizes work-life harmonization, personal and professional growth, and a supportive environment where employees feel seen, heard, and valued.

The American Heart Association has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Program Manager, Health Science, supporting their National Center office based in Dallas, TX, with the flexibility to work from home. This full-time, grant-funded role, eligible for benefits, is initially funded for one year with the potential for extension based on performance and funding renewal. As a Sr. Program Manager for Health Science, you will play a crucial role in advancing the AHA’s Get With The Guidelines® (GWTG) and certification programs, which are designed to improve cardiovascular care quality in hospitals, health systems, EMS agencies, and outpatient or post-acute facilities.

This role requires expert account management skills to lead post-sales processes, foster customer retention, and ensure exceptional service delivery. You will manage daily operations and support the implementation of client projects, programs, or promotions while tracking and reporting progress toward defined goals. A foundation in quality improvement and the ability to integrate IT solutions related to program products will be vital to success. Responsibilities include engaging with clients to facilitate program implementation and delivering data collection and decision support tools to enhance clinical outcomes. You will also collaborate extensively with sales teams to develop strategic plans that generate revenue and reduce health disparities.

The Sr. Program Manager works closely with hospital teams and leadership to troubleshoot compliance issues and optimize program participation, driving maximum value for the Association and its partners. An important aspect of the role involves facilitating collaborative learning meetings among hospitals and developing national strategies to improve care models, particularly for heart failure patients. Additionally, this position supports research initiatives that leverage AHA’s products to advance the cardiovascular field. This role demands strong interpersonal skills, confidence in virtual engagement platforms such as MS Teams and Zoom, and the ability to travel occasionally.

With a salary range typically between $90,000 and $110,000, commensurate with experience and geographic differentials, the AHA invests heavily in its people. The organization offers competitive compensation, comprehensive medical benefits including dental and vision, disability and life insurance, a robust retirement plan with employer contributions, wellness initiatives, and professional development through its award-winning Heart U corporate university. Paid time off begins at 16 days per year plus 12 paid holidays, with opportunities for tuition assistance and inclusion in employee resource groups that foster mentoring and career growth. Working at AHA means joining a dedicated community committed to transforming cardiovascular health and impacting lives globally, all while supporting employees’ well-being and career aspirations.
